Melissa

Welcome to Supporting Special Learners!

I’m thrilled that you’ve found your way here. My name is Melissa, and as the creator behind Supporting Special Learners, I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my passion for making the curriculum accessible to all students.

My First Classroom

I have gained diverse experiences in special education, including working in autism classrooms, behavior supports classes, and serving as a resource teacher. I began my teaching career in 2013 and immediately noticed the lack of resources and support available to help my students. This realization inspired me to create my own teaching materials based on the needs within my classroom.

Educational Background

In terms of my educational background, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a post-graduate degree in Autism and Behavior Science. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Education in the primary/junior teaching division and a Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology.

My educational background and hands-on experience have equipped me with the skills and knowledge to create effective teaching tools and learning environments tailored to each student’s needs. Supporting Special Learners is a platform where I share my experiences, insights, and resources that have helped my students succeed. My goal is to provide teachers, parents, and caregivers with the tools they need to support learners with diverse abilities. I am excited to continue growing this community and sharing my passion for inclusive education with all of you.
